Kim H.'s weight loss journey began a year ago after a routine annual exam. Concerned about her recent weight gain and side effects, her doctor recommended additional blood work to see if health medications would be needed. “I left that appointment completely freaked out.”
Kim immediately got to work with cleaning up her diet and incorporating exercise. “I started working out and joined BeachBody.” After losing a little bit of weight and improving her blood test results in January, Kim’s doctor continued to urge her to improve her health to prevent going on medication. “That was a motivator for me.” Kim promised to focus on her health and weight loss, and joined HealthyWage. “This is what motivated me and this is what made a difference.”
Kim bet herself $50 a month for 9 months that she would lose 45 pounds. “I’m a very competitive person and I don’t like to lose money.” In addition to her individual HealthyWager challenge, Kim joined HealthyWage Jackpot and Fast Track challenges as well “to help keep me on track and ensure that I would not get comfortable in a plateau. The [mini] challenges were key in helping me meet my overall goal because it kept me on a schedule of losing 1-2 pounds every week.”
9 months later, Kim submitted her final weigh-out where she surpassed her goal, losing 48 pounds, and winning $1,163!
“There is no magical formula,” when it came to how Kim lost 48 pounds, but one thing “that made everything work was consistency.” For Kim, she found keto to be the nutrition plan that worked for her along with intermittent fasting. With her nutrition under control, Kim also did Jillian Michaels workouts and BeachBody OnDemand strength training programs like MBF.
“I have to buy a whole new wardrobe now,” she says. “I can’t fit into any of my old clothes!” Not only that, “doing keto, working out, and losing weight has improved my overall health and lab tests. I have two little kids and I want to live a long time and be here for them. I feel so good and I haven’t stopped. I’m still working out every day, and I’m still following my nutrition plan. I would be so disappointed in myself if I regained this weight so I’ll never go back to where I used to be.”
